Hi,another one from ft lauderdale this year.shot taken with my 20d and my new 4 day old ef 100-400L. I thought that this female pilot was outstanding.I think the aircraft was a T-6. Here are my shot settings.
Shutter priority 1/250
Apature F14
ISO 100
Metering Partial
Focal length 400mm
Any advice on aviation photography welcome.
Whats this cf4/1, would that help?

Problem? Nothing money can't solve. LOL. There are quite a few people from Europe who attend the race, although I do realize it would be a very exspensive trip.

Nice shot!! Blue on Blue.. looks Cool...
(throws this weeks lunch money into the jar marked "Canon 100-400 Saving Fund")

Did Reno once.. was flying from Germany into SF on a Friday, reading a Flying magazing I picked up on the way in Paris... and saw a full page ad for the world championships, the next day, which had a picture of an interesting looking plane,
.. and all around the page border it said "fly low... fly fast... turn left... fly low... fly fast... turn left... fly low... fly fast... turn left..."
so I booked a Saturday 6AM flite from SF to Reno as soon as I landed... and enjoyed one of the coolest aviation experiences there is.

Didn't have a single photographic device with me... :-(
.. but the show was great!!!

got SERIOUSLY sunburned... even tho my back was to the sun all day.. (reflections off the desert sand.. and haze in the air...)

You got that right. There is nothing like getting there at 6:30AM, the air is completely still, and all of the sudden you hear a race Merlin in full song come flying down the chute. Usually Dago, or Strega up for the early morning test flight.
