Looks like a school assignment. Technically they're fine. If your shooting product photos for a company, they will like them.

quickly leafing through a golf digest mag and looking at some product shots. DOF in yours is much narrower than I'm seeing. Especially something like the manufacturer name on the piano. All should probably be tack sharp.

Good stuff about yours. You cleaned up your products prior to shooting. Good job. Many overlook something as simple as dusting a watch before photographing. Your lighting and exposures appear spot on. WB looks perfect (the piano is a great example) on my monitor.

Maybe try to reshoot a couple using wider DOF and see if you don't agree. If not, keep up the good work!

If I were to say anything, it'd be exactly what snyderman said... exactly...

They are nice, I would prefer to see the entire reflection, but that might just be my personal pet peeve.

It was the first thing that I noticed also.
Otherwise, very nice.

i wish the sunglasses were not being held up. The angle they are resting at is funny to me. Also, the edges of the helmet being soft doesn't work for me. Other than that, they look great.

theses are all clean & crisp, because of the backgrounds you chose the eye automatically heads straight to the main object of the picture.I'd have to say my favorite is the one with the piano.

I don't know much about product photography...so I guess you can take my feedback as one from a possible consumer?

Wow these are great shots!! my favorites are the cell phone and the 1st jewelry one. The helmet could use a bit more lighting. Can you explain how you got these shots/equipment. Thanks

Mauro:

Again, I think you're more enamored with depth of field than truly showing the product, if showing the product is your intended result. Please look at the iron in your last pic. It's a PANASONIC product. Now look at the logo.

What do you think Panasonic would say about the shot? Here's what they'd say: "I can't read my company's name on my product ... NEXT!!!"

DOF looks 'cool' but it's not working to the benefit of anyone in some of the shots.

SNYDERMAN of course
i know the logo panasonic is blurry
these are sort of experiment, the pics i normally do for catalogs are different trust me
i like play with lights and DOF and try differents way each time
i'm asking a critique on the picture not on what panasonic will say if see the blurry logo
i dont want to be offensive, not my intention, but fantasy is a nice thing, you should play and let her go free in your minds.
tell me i am wrong

You're totally right, and these are all really wonderful pictures, but i think some of the commentary you're getting is coming from the fact that you labeled these as product photography. People will automatically assume you're trying to make the pictures in a manner that you WOULD present to a company for a magazine or ad of some sort.

Their fault for assuming :) I certainly didn't think so. Anyone shooting these kinds of pics knows what he's doing, so it doesn't make sense to assume that. Oh well.
