I just got my hands on a 20D with kit lens. For the near future I probably won't go beyond a flash and a 50mm/extra zoom lens and the kit lens plus regular accessories and an ipod. I would like to have room for a water bottle if possible. I'll mostly use it for day trips and to store it in my car. (hidden) If I go hiking or something like that I would probably pick up the canon backpack as it seems to be well made, larger and obviously easier to carry for a hike.

I want a shoulder type bag that I can also wear on my bag for longer walks and stability. So far I've narrowed it down to three bags but I have some questions about all three.

Tamrac Velocity 7 - I've heard good things about it but some say it's too small. Will it suit my needs? I would rather it be a bit too large than small but I don't want to walk around with a bag that's half empty.

Tamrac Velocity 9 - I've read good things on this, some saying it's a bit too cumbersome though. Is it too big for me?

Adorama Slinger - This is the one I know nothing about. I saw pics on their website and it doesn't look as sturdy as the Tamrac velocity's and I don't know how big it is in comparison to the velocity 7 or 9. Also, how comfortable is it? The strap isn't shown.

Any input would be much appreciated.

For bags it's really best to see them in person, as everyone has different taste and preferences. Can you go into a camera store and look around? That would be best.

i have the velocity 7 and it's a nice bag. holds my xt with lens and grip/80-200/16fisheye/flash, but it's uncomfortable for me fully loaded going across my chest as designed. in order to wear it correctly, it needs to be pretty snug, and for my body it just doesn't work. i would definitely try it before you buy. if possible bring some gear with you to see how you like them. the velocity 9 is BIG, and i can only imagine it would be even more uncomfortable fully loaded.
