Just curios,

I just think it would be nice to know how far reaching this forum is.And also to put together names and places. With the exception of doug from alaska.I think we can all figure out where he's from.No harsh feelings Doug.Well you could tell us where in alaska you live.Everyone can also add a photo if you like. Anyway I'm from Cape May,New Jersey,USA.It"s an old victorian coastal resort community on the southern tip of the state dating back to the late 1700s.I can't seem to embed my photos correctly here so here's a link to my picture that I think represents my community best.

Astro,

There a posting in "The Word Is Free" on this site with a topic title of "Where is everyone from". I just put in my info there last night. If you haven't been there, you might want to check it out.

BTW, I'm almost your neighbor. I'm from Allentown, PA.

Oh, I see. So you have to have a "G3" to be in the
club :~( How about just a canon? LOL Anyway. We are neighbors. Point pleasant, NJ. Use to go to cape may every other weekend when I was younger. Beautiful place to take photos too!

Hi all! I am from Kimberly, Wisconsin, which is about 30 minutes south of Green Bay - you know - The Packers! Anyway, I am knew to this forum, this is my first post. I ordered my G3 last week, and it is set to ship tomorrow, as is the lensmate adapter I ordered today. I have been driving my husband nuts ordering accessories for it when I don't even have it yet. I just keep telling him I need to be prepared! I am making the switch from film to digital. I would really like the 10D (was the D60 until the news was released about the 10D), so the G3 was a compromise dollar wise between me and my husband. I have some filters and close up filters from my film Canon SLR that I will be able to use with the G3, but you can never have enough camera equipment!

Here is a link to some of my pics taken with my Canon EOS Rebel, http://hometown.aol.com/jboyd46/jackiespictures.html. Hopefully by the end of the week I will have some G3 pics up.

Nice to be here!

Hi everyone.

My name is Tom and I live in Honolulu, Hawaii. I've had my G3 since the beginning of January. This camera is my latest step after an Olympus 490z and Stylus Epic. I just got a 52mm Lensmate, a few filters, and a 420ex flash a little while ago.

I don't know much about photography and I joined this forum to hopefully learn more from the growing G3 community. Every little bit helps!

Hi, my name is Paul & I'm from Guernsey in the Channel Islands (UK). A really beautiful little island - perfect for the G3 owner!

Me & the wife were out driving yesterday, which happened to be a beautiful Spring like Sunday, and we passed something which suddenly occured to me would make a interesting shot, so we turned around and after a bit of climbing I took this shot - in B&W mode. After getting it back on the PC I've done a bit of tweaking here and there with the clone brush but other than that it's pretty much how it came out the camera! I've titled it 'Smoke Trails' and if anyone can tell me what it really is they will go to top of the class!!!!!

Hey, this forum is pretty international! As for me, my mother is English, father American, I grew up in California, went to a Swiss University and am living in Japan now. There is a ton of interesting stuff here to shoot. Unfortunately, I don't have enough time for it all at once.

Naughty D60-user peeking in. Guess they are plow tracks on land. Whydo you shoot B&W if you can make it always B&W but can never revert back to color?

Well, back to the beach.

Hi Everybody,

Hope you don't mind if I sneak in here too, as I have a G-1. Unfortunately, there are only three people left with that camera, so it gets kind of quiet in our world. Who would have thought a 2 year old state of the art product would disappear so soon, but from many postings, I guess that fate will soon befall G-2 & G3 owners also!

Looks like NJ-USA is the champ for this forum. I'm from Pompton Lakes in northern NJ, but also have a place on Long Beach Island, not far from Cape May & Point Pleasant.

I'm sitting here in Grenoble, France (but from New Zealand originally).

My G3 arrived this morning - I'd previously had a G2.

Grenoble is in the heart of the French Alps and I do quite a bit of mountain photography. Also, we're close to the Italian border and I travel around Europe quite a lot for work and play. Wherever you point your camera there is always something interesting going on.

There are some pics on my site

www.pounamu.org in the "new images" section.

(there are some awful old shots I took with my very old Casio QF camera - but I'm quite proud of some of the newer photographs).

cheers

Hi,

I am from Queens, NY. I am a proud new owner of the G3 and I am soooooo happy. I snuck into the G2 forum and they seem to have had a lot of issues with Firmware with the G2 which Canon seemed to have worked out with the G3.

I love this camera!! Sometimes I feel a little intimidate by all the features and settings, basically I am in awe of it. I am really glad I had the insight to buy this camera. Now, the hardest thing is getting to take pictures in this weather. I really want to be good, so I take it out everyday. Its cold and I am afraid my camera will get cold. :) All in all, I am glad I purchased this camera and really glad all of you are here to share your issues and photos.

Hi everyone,

I live in France, about 80 kilometers north of Lyon.

After years of Minolta STR100B 35mm SLR, I jumped into digital pictures world with a very nice G3... I've been using it for about 2 months, mostly for kids-and-family pictures...

I intend to purchase an adapter (for filters ans maybe converters). I've read very good things about lensmate adapters (52 mm better than 58 ?). Are there any alternative adapters for the G3, apart from Canon's 58mm ?

Hello, As you can see by my signature, I live in NH. I see that NJ has a few representatives. My brother in law lives in NJ and we visit him every now and then. Hubby is from Philly. I am really enjoying my G3, had a Toshiba PDR-M5 digital for about 2.5 years and was looking for a long time to which camera I would upgrade to. I have been wanting the G3 for about a year. Then by my luck my cats broke my old camera by knocking onto the ground one day and I (unfortunately) had to buy a new camera :-). he he Actually I was bummed that they broke it because it did take good photos for such an old digital camera and I was going to lend it to my son. Now its useless, still cant bring myself to throw it away. Anyways I love seeing photos here that folks have taken with their G3's, someday when I take a photo worth sharing I'll try to figure out how to post one.

Been shooting with film and lo res digital for some time.
Just recently got the G3 after a lot of comparison shopping.

Hi beth,

Welcome to the forum.
San Clemente indeed is a beautiful place. Last weekend I passed by San Clemente on my way to the Flower Fields at Carlsbad. A colorful place to play with my G3.

Hey Get! You should come down to the flower fields right now. It looks like a bunch of dirt. They did just plant new bulbs, so I am sure we'll have flowers soon enough.

Oh yeah. I'm Derek. I live in San Diego, CA.

I'm here in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA. In the Heart of the Amish Country. (Horse-drawn buggies seem a whole lot less quaint and charming, when you're late for a meeting and find yourself stuck behind one of the slow-moving things for 3 miles.)

Hi I am from Nottinghamshire in England. Remember Robin Hood and his Merry Men? Well our bungalow is situated 3 miles from Sherwood Forest and 6 miles from the Major Oak Tree.:)

I have had my G3 since June and have had some really good pics. This forum is excellent for being able to focus a problem and get many views.

I like it when people show a pic (I particularly like Scot's) and then they give the exif info. It is a great help to we amateurs.

I recently was on a cruise and met a lady from New Jersey. Hi Betsy, if you are looking in. She had a G3 and we were able to swap notes.

Bye for now from the UK.

G3 for 6 months. Great camera (but limitations of LCD in bright weather). Currently very tempted by EOS 300D in time for trip to New Zealand.

G'day y'all!

New Yorker here (as in NYC) although originally hail from Hong Kong (many years ago when I was just a whee lad :)). Currently live in Park Slope, Brooklyn, which is just a bit beyond the Brooklyn Bridge, which I finally crossed on foot for the very first time during the recent Blackout -- and took a few shots w/ the G3.

Just a relatively new owner of the G3 (+ accessories). Previous digicam was the Nikon CP800 from ~3.5 years ago. Other interests include movies, music and baseball! Go Yanks!! :D

Weather always a treat - though we lack rain - last year we had a drought and had water restrictions. Hopefully this summer will be better.

Calgary, Alberta. Picked up my G3 in June and I'm just getting used to it. I've never done photography before and I don't think I would have it wasn't for digital. I'm having so much fun. It's addictive and the G3 is a sweet camera.

I look at some of the posts on this website and I marvel at shots you all take. Good job everyone especially sdommin. Great pictures. I wish I could spend a weekend watching him take pictures just to learn. No matter how hard I try my pictures just never look as good as his. Oh well, something to strive for.

I've posted some of the pictures I've taken so far at http://www.pbase.com/antbrown if anyone cares to take a look and make any comments.

Hello all,

I am from London, England and have just got a G3 switching from film. I have probably taken more shots since getting this camera than I ever did with my manual Nikon. I do not miss those processing costs or the wait to see how the picture comes out. Loads of stuff to shoot around here, except I don't do as much city stuff as I would like for fear of getting my camera nicked! Too many undesireables around here! I have found this forum very informative and entertaining so thanks to all the regular post-ers and warm greetings from London!
