Easy to shoot delighfully cute slightly asian daughters (you'll recognize yourself! :D) or super-top-blond farmer daughters (yeah, YOU too!) :D
Anyway, I prefer faces with a "story to tell" and I did this shot tonight. I know it could be rotated a tad (even if the pub itself is NOT straight! (old building)) and that there are diabolitical "crossing lines" in the composition.. that frankly won't stop me loving this shot!
What do you think ?

I really like this one!:) :)
I do find the top of the photo very distracting as it draws the eye away from the subject.
How about cropping just above the man so that there isn't any white space left?

I agree with that too. Otherwise, it is a very interesting shot. It has a lot of character.

This is a very kool image. I don't mind the stuff above his head.
I think it will work very nicely in B&W too.

I agree with John, John & pompano64. The top is a bit distracting.
Excellent everywhere else though.

Excellent capture! But I also would chop the top.

I agree with what everyone else said about cropping the picture.... it's a great shot though.

good thing is you can crop it and if it doesn't work - you've lost what - 30 seconds of your day. but with that said, I am not so sure that is what it needs. It may then morph into just another picture of a wrinkled old man. Try the B/W. I love the heavy framed pictures in what looks like a very dated interior. Kinda like a place that is past it prime - just like its patron. play with it... and resist doing the ordinary. I think you have something here to work with that is quit interesting and could be very out-of-the-ordinary.

A lot of nice textures and different feels in this one, daddy like

Thanks for all the comments everyone. yes, it kinda needs cropping, but I'm totaly undecided as to where. Did various tries (and a few friends also had a go) but there is no concensus :D
And the black & white makes the "crossing lines" syndrom worse. It works in color, but in B&W the subjects fades compared to the light play...
So for now, I kept it as it is (slightly rotated) until I find another way :D oh and I called it "reflection" so it makes it looks like it was all on purpose :D :D

Very nice shot ... but the top draws the eye away...

I had another look at this.
How about a crop just above his head so that there is no white at all? It will probably need to be rotated slightly to take care of the vertical lines of the boards on the wall.
The character of this person shines through!

Call me crazy but I absolutely love this shot, reminds me of a shot I would see in Time magazine.

Agree with the cropping idea. I would crop to the paneling. I like the blue as it provides some contrast. Good shot!
