She's my favorite photographer. I was surprise to read how mess up her financial situation is. $24 Mil debt, way over the top, even if she has every camera gear in existence.

Thats too bad, at 60 she should be thinking about slowing down and retiring not paying off a 24 million dollar debt.

I am unsure how anyone can find themselves being $24million in debt.

I mean, did she just wake up one morning, get her bank statement and go "oops I'm $24,000,000 overdrawn"? Thats got to have been coming for a long time!

Maybe she should consolidate her debt into one easy monthly payment loan with an APR so ludicrous that even a Loan Shark will cry when they see it.

I think it just goes to show that no matter how much money people have they always want more.

She incurred a large chunk of that debt paying for Susan Sontag's (unsuccessful, obviously) leukemia treatment.

She bought 1, began restoring it, managed to damage one right next to it, got sued over that, and ended up having to buy it to settle. That was part of it.

not uncommon for a artist to make investments that go bust, to cycle between heights of fame and misfortune, deal with fans and critics alike, all the while being just as human as everyone else

Which goes to show that photographers are not perfect. :)

Famous people have complicated lives. It's sad, but true. I just want to be rich. :) Fame comes way down on my list. ;)

Just fake her own death and live off the massive profits. ;)
