I just received my Hoodman 3" Loupe and it's great for this old guy's eyes. I get more like Mister Magoo with each passing year. I can now see my images decently on the LCD viewer and I can even use the Hoodman Loupe to view the monitor display at the top on my 40D. I can just whip off my sunglasses (when I am wearing them) and can now see what I am doing. This is really important when I need to use the menu to change camera settings. No longer will I guess what changes I have selected.

I didn't need much for my upcoming trip to China but decided to treat myself to the Loupe as well as a new CF card reader.

I really like mine - sure helps in sunlight situations to study a shot

I have one of the older small ones designed for the small 20d sized screens. I still use it on my 40's and 50. It still works great! These things are REQUIRED if you're working outdoors in bright light, (IMO). I'm constantly running into folks at sporting events straining to see their screen. Letting someone borrow one (when you don't need it of course) is a good way to make friends!

I used a 2.5" version for a little over a year and now I have the 3" version. There really is no substitute when working outside in really bright sunlight!

I made do for a long while with this fabricated contraption... But the Hoodman is a lot more pleasant to use...

I can't rationalize spending that much money on such a little thing.

It is fantastic for both those sunny day reviews ( chimping) and where it really shines is macro focus in live view, it makes a huge difference in fine tuning the focus. Good enough I bought a second for my husband to use.

I've got the HoodLoupe and HoodEYE 3.0. Pretty much essential for outdoor video and live view use. Get a cheap LCD hood off eBay, remove the wings, and super glue the HoodLoupe to the frame. Slip the frame over the viewfinder and you're good to go. $100 total for it all (after eBay discounts) sure beats paying $400 for the Zacuto Z-Finder.

Forgot to add..make sure you use the Canon rubber viewfinder cover to keep stay light from getting in through there.
