I occassionally went to another photography forum, and when I saw someone that had a 20D that obviously needed more help than she was getting from there I recommended she visit here and put the link in the reponse.

The administrator didn't like that calling it "spam" that I was trying to bring people to "my" site, hardly. So I sent a "private" message to the user giving this website and the next day I did not have access to the site anymore, lol! And this is even a site with a couple of photography website sponsors! They have hardly any users compared to here and the site is probably the slowest one I go to of ANY website for ANYTHING.

Cheers, and keep it moving!

People and fourms are weird sometimes.

I've been to many bad photography forums. Most are populated by opinionated old farts who enjoy cramming their own definition of "real" photography down everyone else's throat.

POTN is the best, partly because I get to look at Petra's avatar whenever she contributes.;)

Curtis, you're such a flirt! (I do like it though) :D

I was trying to join one of those wedding forums that you have to pay for... I wasn't allowed in, even for the 30 day trial. So I thought, "what a waste of money if they are so uptight, I feel sorry for those who paid". I guess they were only looking for members that will support themselves as wedding photographers. I have no plans on doing that, even if I'll hope to have a small income from wedding photography during the summer season. Oh well... I am not missing anything, and after all, I have Curtis to flirt with! :D

C'mon, Curtis, not nice to lump all of us "old farts" together ... and after all, we do know best! [I'm 60 today!]

A danish site only lets a select few "elite" photographers join. To join You have to submit an application and the webmaster decides if Your photographs are excellent enough to let You in. And if You are not a member You can only see small thumbnails of the photos! Can't remember the name of the site right now.

Happy birthday, Dwight! You don't look a day over 59 1/2! Did you mention in another thread that you have a 3 yr. old daughter?

For the record, I love old farts. I just don't want them looking down their noses at me if my photographic goals are different from theirs. Plenty of young farts on other forums with the same inclination. And I've never seen that attitude here, thankfully.

Weird. I post there, and recommend other photography forums all the time without any problems. Other folks do too. In fact, I think that's how I found this forum. Maybe you got an overzealous moderator; sometimes I think they have too many.
