Well, Finally making the jump to digital. Been a film Canon EOS user what seems like forever and considering digital for some time as well. I'm not wealthy by any means so had to settle for the 300D for the time being even though I had to drool over the 20D since the first one I saw on Sentinal Bridge in Yosemite NP. Up side I can use the same lenses that I already have and don't have to scan the photo. Can't wait.
I've been reading here for a couple days also gleaning what I could from those of you more experienced and look forward to my continued learning experience. Thanks for being here. I need all the teachers I can get.

Welcome to POTN, i'm sure by asking questions and searching old questions/answers you can learn a lot here - I did! :)
The 300D is a great camera. Sure the 20D is better in many ways, but you can get a picture that's just about as good. The major downside for me is the 300D is a little slower to use, but it's still a lot better than all consumer digital cameras.
Your initial pictures might not overly impress you, i'd suggest turning up the sharpness parameter if you're shooting JPG, or do a little USM in photoshop. It's a whole new world to learn here!
Have fun, and remember practice makes perfect!

If my experience with the point n' shoot digitals that I have are any indication I'm sure there will be a pretty good learning curve. Always went back to my SLR film cause I could do so much more with it but I keep watching the world go by me in the digital era and started feeling left behind

12 hours or so and counting and it should be here and have a couple events going on this weekend to break it (read that "me") in with. Thanks so much for the welcome and I look forward to being a part of this group for a long while.

I don't know about Sentinel Bridge, but Gates of the Valley was looking pretty good the other day. The river flow is high. Either of those cameras would do OK.
