I am trying to figure out what Bean Bag to get for Newborn shoots. I have seen the Shoot Baby Ottoman and I have looked at puck versions. I am expecting to do my first shoot in the next couple of weeks (baby is not born yet!) It seems there is a long wait for the bean bags so I am trying to find one that I can get shipped to me quickly. Would this one work just as well as far as size?

Thanks!

That looks like a great size actually. The stuffing will settle as you use it and when you find that it becomes "baggy", you just hold the bean bag upside down and hold a hand full of the center fabric. Then twist the bean bag around and around until it is tight, and flip it upright again.
Also, remember when you are putting the newborn onto the bean bag, punch an indentation into it with your forearms and elbows to allow a dent for the baby to settle. (There are some shots you won't want an indentation of course, but if you do, punch it down first before putting the baby in it.) Don't forget to put a garbage bag down under the blanket for naked shots. They ALWAYS pee....or worse. have fun.

Thanks :-) I'm actually waiting to see if I can get someone on Etsy to make me a Bean Bag the size of the Puck Bean Bag on beanbags.com

I'm hoping she can!

I'm on the market for a beanbag as well. Let me know what you find out from the Etsy lady.

I will! She emailed me back and she is going to make it
40L x 40W x 12H inches (round like the puck bean bag, but an inch taller). It will have an inner bag with zipper and the cover with a zipper. It will come to me empty (like everyone else's) and I will fill it. It will be fabric but I am going to place a waterproof pad inside the cover over the top of the inner bag to keep the beans from getting wet and then maybe one over the top of the bag itself.

She said she can make it by tomorrow or Saturday and then it will be in the mail! I'm having her speed up the shipping a bit so she said she thinks the total would be around $70 with shipping.

The Wal-Mart bean bag would work just fine too. It is tall enough so you have room to work without practically laying down on the floor.

I got my bean bag in the mail today! Now I just have to get beans and then I will take a picture of it and post it here. She did it very quick!

I bought an old bean bag at a second hand store . . took all the old stuff out, looked like styrofoam, washed it (its fabrics courdoroy . . . hey I bought it for $10!) but want to refill it with new stuff, where do you buy the beans to fill it up with and how much do you buy? Don't know the size of it but its pretty big. Thanks.

http://www.beanbag.com/ Is where I ordered mine. We went to JoAnns to look and for a 1/2 cu ft it was like 15 a bag. To fill mine I would have spent $400 in there!! Crazy!

i use the stryofoam packing peanuts in mine. The company I own has a shipping department, so I go and stick the hose into it and fill it up, but Kinko's or Fedex, any of those mailing stores should be able to sell you those. Staples and Office depot sell them by the large garbage bag if I remember correctly. What they sell at JoAnns must be what, cushion foam pieces or something? $400? I don't think so. Styrofoam packing peanuts are the answer.
