I shot it a couple of days ago.
Here the original taken with the beatiful 85mm, handheld; I was about 1 metre from the subject. And even a crop of the beast!
Sorry for the compression ... original is so sharp ...
Ciao :D

Wonderful :):) That is just an amazing shot!
Don't you hate that we have to compress these photos to download them? I am always disappointed in how mine look here comapred to real life......

Thanks Maureen!
Yes it's terrible seeing definition and sharpness swept away when compressing ...
Never mind.

Very Cool!!!... Were you just sitting and waiting or were you getting ready to shoot this flower and then the bee came into the shot?
It is a fun lens isn't it. It has easily moved to the top of my list whenever possible since its purchase a month ago.

Get a photopic.net site (or something like it) where you can upload photos for free. I think at photopic you get 250MB for free and you can active link the photos to web sites (which not all of them can do).
Then you can have larger images with full quality... just give a 56K warning or something for those dialup users.

Thanks a lot for appreciating guys! (and gilrs!)
Dsze: I was shooting the flower and the bee came around. Just lucky that the bee was very undecided to dive into the flower! So that gave me the time (3 secs) to focus properly.
The lens is a gret fun Dsze ... I totaly agree with you; I also purchased it about 1 month ago.

It adds an extra step to posting... but you won't have to sacrifice quality.

I concur. Very cool shot.
Unfortunately RAitch, that photo site link is not quite right, at least I am getting errors. I am very interested. Anyone know how to get there?

wow, thats SEEMS like a shallow DOF for a 6.3 apature. Im really impressed, i love the shot! Did you do this with manual or automatic focus? If auto, did you set a certain AF point before you shot it?
For some reason i thought that was shot with a 2.8 or even 4.0 apature.
I love very much, i consider that a "money shot" =)

the 85/1.8 your using.. Is that a standard or L lens? Also, where you using a tripod? I really like this shot ! =)
I also like the lens quality.! I want one. Is you 70-200 an IS or non IS lens?
Lots of questions, sorry =)

It's a standard lens, but a really good one. There is a higher quality version though, the 85mm F/1.2L http://www.pricegrabber.com/search.php?form_keyword=+EF+85mm+f%2F1.2L&topcat_id=
Much more expensive though.
He wasn't using the 70-200 IS or non IS.
The 85 f/1.8 is a lot less expensive than the 70-200IS or non IS. Depends how much you have in your wallet.

Grego is totaly right ... nothing to add.
Thank you guys for all your entusiastic comments: it helps a lot.
I repeat ... just a lucky shot.

Hello mate; I used automatic focus but I had previously set just the central AF point to shot the flower properly (red trumpets) ... then came the bee.
I shot 4 pics to the bee: the one I posted is the very first one.
The insect is really sharp and "well focused" because the focus point is right over the head of the bee (hope my english is clear enough).
I was lucky that the bee was damned still at the moment of the shot; If you notice there's just an appearance of movement at the bottom of one of the legs.
Pic was taken handheld, no tripod; I was standing in front of the plant.
Thanks again for the comments ... YOU MADE MY DAY!
