Hey guys, My name is Kevin I am 31 years of age.
Part of my work involves taking pictures for web content, magazines, benchmarking. And next week I get to shoot one of our vehicles with a model for a calendar:)
Still kind of researching possible lighting solutions since I don't really have a budget for the calander shoot. If anybody is willing I could use some advice on the shoot. I can give a run down of the room I am shooting in and my ideas. I've only been shooting pictures for about 6 months.
All shots were taken with natural light using a Nikon Coolpix 995 3.37 MP camera.
I have been approved for a Rebel XT slr which I will be getting soon.
All pictures are internal vehicles or customer vehicles we have built.
Anyways,
Enjoy

Hi Kevin, Welcome to the forum. :D
You have some impressive shots of high performance cars here.
Question; Is that Yenko Drag Camaro an original "Yenko"? I'm guessing it would be a clone, but you never know. ;)

Thanks guys. Most of our stuff is pretty high end.
Bruce,
The Yenko is a clone. It was actually a older Pro street car built by C.A.R.S who offer resto parts.
The present owner had us build his new engine which pushed the limits of the chassis. We gutted the entire vehicle and hand built a entire new chassis to handle the power level so he could be safe.

Thanks for the info Kevin. I guess that makes sense, as the old uni body and subframes just aren't up to spec when it comes to putting that kind of horsepower in them. ;)

Thanks for the tips.
Depending on how you look at it I either got lucky or someone is looking out for me;)
Regardless I am pretty happy...
I've read that thread and try to use information here and there. It's tough to get the time to apply a more artistic medium on the clock. For the most part my time is limited and the backgrounds around here are not that great.
I shot this earlier with 2 500 watt spotlights bounced off the ceiling. No reflectors because I didn't have any.

It's my first time applying light. Preperations for my shoot with the model next week.

I can't say enough about the kind words guys. I've started to really like photography and this is the first feedback I have received from avid photograpy people.
I will definitely post up some pics from my test shoot on Saturday however, I will have to post them in the Glamour section since my model will be in a music type setting. This will be my first time shooting a human. I'm pretty excited:)

I shot this earlier with 2 500 watt spotlights bounced off the ceiling. It works well, after all, it's just a huge "flat"! ;-)

Yes sir.
This morning I almost ran into our president once I stopped I noticed two shopping bags in his hands. They contained a Rebel slr, 2 gb card, and a case. I've been gitty like a little school girl all day.
Here are some test shots on auto. Now I just have to adjust to it:)

That's gotta be the first shaker on an 05 I've seen, I didn't think it'd look good but you've proved me wrong. Is it functional... and is that a procharger intercooler I see? I read the 3v's love boost. Sorry, I'm a ford guy :p
I recognize quite a few of these from mags or the internet, and I think just about every car guy has seen that twin turbo camaro  That red camaro has a 572 right?
Also I was interested in that 05 gto, what all is done to it? And did you guys make it into the 6's? Sorry for all the questions, I can't help myself

No problem on the questions. That is also part of what I do here.
Visit this link for the GTO. Quite a bit of work has gone into that car.
http://www.w2wpowertrain.com/t-GTO-Concept-2.aspx
The Mustang came to us stock. We have done all work including the Pro Charger.
The Shaker hood and front clip is produced and sold by one of our companies called Classic design concepts.
The red 69 was built by the same builder of The Mule which is the silver 69. Motivation is a small block chevy.
As for the 6 second pass, not yet. It broke the transmission about 300 feet out on the back wheels. The trans is limited to about 1100 hp and we are making close to 2000 on a factory iron block.
We have a Lenco sitting next to it which will more than handle it.
Before it broke it left harder than it's ever left before and it was the first time it saw 20 psi on the launch.
That car is a team effort of employess donating money, work, and parts to build the fastest LS1 car in the world. Our shop supplies a little bit here and there.
We will be back out soon with the new trans and later this year we have something else very under wraps that is pretty cool.
This also goes in the transportation forum.
One of my personal Hot Rods I shot after work.
I get to practice all weekend so you might just see my wife's too:)

Wow, I never woulda guessed that GTO had that much done to it from that picture
Thanks for answering the questions. Hope ya guys get the camaro up and running again soon and I wish the best of luck.
Really cool bike too, I love the whole flat black rat rods scene, that plays right along with it. Thanks again and I'm eager to see what else you'll post here :D

There is certainly no advice I could give you Kevin. I am highly impressed. You showed us some very nice work. Now, what is it you want us to help you with? . . . . yeah, right!

lol, Thank you.
I guess, given my lack of experience I doubt myself even after I have finished product and I am a bit nervous about the level of shoot I have next weekend. It's not that I'm fishing for compliments. Honest feedback on artistic work isn't that plentiful here and is mostly given with a apathetic perspective. I'm sure myself being quite the shut in has an effect too...
I have a pretty good grasp of what I want to do lighting wise, all and all I was just looking for suggestions or some rules of thumb others might have shooting a model and a car.

That is what I find really great about that car. It is very understated until you notice a few things.
I really want to capture the color of the car when I shoot it next week. Outdoor pics make it look just like another black car.
It has this subtle titanium like flop in it which I really like.
Hopefully with some decent lighting and good reflectors I can get something going.
I'll post em up when I finish them:)

That's one thing I like about the GTO's, even though the body styling is bland they really have alot performance wise. I drove an 04 with the 6 speed last year and absolutely loved the performance and especially interior. Wish I could afford one right now
I'll be looking out for those pics too :D

They do feel pretty good stock. I hear a lot of negatives about them being bland but I think it's cool they didn't go retro with it.
I finished the test shoot. I'll post a thread with a few pics tonight. I shot close to 300 with multiple outfits. After initial review I might have close to 40 keepers. I don't know if that is good or not but I like quite a few of them.
It was still pretty wierd though...

I got that thread posted. It only has two pics because of my laptop getting cranky.
I'll finish some more this week at the office.
