Back button focusing for sports

I am not sure why there isnt more talk of this ? Maybe I dont understand it 100% but for sports shooting it seems it almost a requirement ? I am thinking for consectuive shots on a player moving it would really help. I have a bunch where the camera did something I didnt expect and I think its because I am not very good at recomposing a shot.

There are hundreds of threads on using the back button. The vast majority of sports shooters use it.

Gotcha...I found them - Initially I searched titles only with "back button".
