I got one on eBay for £50....and it works on my 20d!!! i was expecting it to give me an Err msg or something...but it works!
Definitely need to use a tripod tho...but this would be cool to play around with and take candids on a sunny day!
Don't know how old this lens is...doesn't even say APO on it! but autofocus works and no error msg!

What a great deal then, 400 is pretty far so you will probably need a trip or monopod, or a REALLY steady hand.

Got any pics?

There are like 3 models of that lens, first one takes 72mm filters and isn't considered to be a very good lens. The other 2 take 77mm filters and are optically supposed to be quite good, I think the only real difference between these two is that one has a macro function and has the HSM motor.

I had this lens on my old Sigma SA5 SLR and it worked well. Took some really nice shots in Africa with it and not too heavy or cumbersome. I think I paid around £90 for it SH via ebay too, but this was maybe 4-5 years ago. Sounds like a decent buy.

Think i know this lens. Is it a grey colour ? If so it was regarded as a good lens back in the olde days!

yep - it's grey! never even heard of this lens and i can't find much info on this now on the net. but it works and i'm happy! wish i had this when i went to the air show last weekend! AF is loud tho! probably the loudest of all my lenses yet...but it doesn't bother me! :-)
