View Full Version : MX shot from 1st round of British Champs

Well I took a fair few shots and pretty much all of them were rubbish.

This is one of the better ones and still far from perfect.

From what I can see wrong with the pic is there is a bit to much blur to the rider and that white mark behind the front wheel. Only thing I can think it is, is one of the track side markers that ended up on the track. Still annoys me though when I look at it.

Oh and maybe not the best angle.






Any thoughts or comments on how to improve?

What shutter speed were you using? In an ideal panning shot the bike body and the rider should be crisp and clear with the main moving parts (wheel spokes chain and background) blurred. It looks like you've encountered a bit of camera shake which suggests your shutter speed was a bit on the low side.

Im sure it was 1/50th, so pretty slow.

Probably need a bit more than that to avoid introducing any camera shake. Experiment and try 1/100 to 1/200th to see whats possible. At the speed they're moving at there should still be plenty of movement blur without inducing movement of your own.
