Photomatix question

This is probaly too simple but a colleague saw an HDR I took and got excited and asked for info about Photomatix. He takes really nice photos but he uses a Kodak P&S and didn't understand me when I mentioned raw files.

I'm not clear myself if photomatix will work with jgeg files or not. He understands the concept of bracketed exposures (I think) but I don't think he can output anything but Jpeg.

Anybody?

Of course Photomatix will work with JPEg or TIF files.

Photomatix will work fine processing JPG files, the big difference with the end results is that JPG's are 8 bit color files and Tiff's are 16 bit.
