I have a destination wedding coming up and looking for a lock for my pelican 1510 case. Not talkin about a lock so that you can't open the case as I have that, but a lock that ties the whole case to something like a post?
I'm staying a few extra nights and leaving some of my best equipment in a hotel room makes me anxious so I'd like to lock down my case to a bed or something haha.
Any ideas/suggestions? Am I being a worry wart?
BTW, wedding is in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and staying at the Sheraton.

Kryptonite bike lock, maybe? Or how about a chain and a padlock?

Go to a store which has travel items. There are cable locks that have combinations. You put the cable thru the case lock, extend it around a pole (or something absurdly bulky to be carrying out, like a bedframe or the pedals of the grand piano) and if someone even moves the case without disarming via the combination within a certain period of time, an alarm goes off!

Any type of bicycle cable lock should do. Just be aware that this will just keep someone from a quick snatch and go. If somebody really wants the case they'll get it.

I usually use my pistol cable lock on anything I don't want people to mess with... hasn't failed me yet :D

Mexico is tough. Are you sure you want to leave your stuff in your room? Just out of curiosity, where would you connect cables and locks to?

Not sure, which is why I'm asking for suggestions.
I've never been to Mexico but it seems like Cabo San Lucas is a popular tourist town. I'm staying at Sheraton so I was planning to hook it to anything large, like a bed frame.
I realize it's not going to be 100% secure, but frame of mind is a good thing.
I plan to not have anyone clean the room with a do not disturb sign, but I have to leave my stuff in there (can't take it snorkeling) ;)

Insurance is your friend here. Can't really secure anything not locked to your person, and even then . . . .

Plumbing...the toilet connections to water supply, the sink connections to water supply or drain,
...locked to the TV which is locked to its own lock on the furniture
...bed frame

As an alternative, you could also check your locked Pelican case with the concierge or front desk when you know you'll be away from the room for a long period of time.

When planning to spend time on the beach, you could simply find a tree within eyesight of a hotel employee (e.g. towel and inner tube check in and check out stand) and lock the Pelican to the tree.

...or to the hotel employee's leg... :p

With a real Pelican, why bother?!...take it into the water and use it as a flotation device, and forget the inner tube.

Now you're talkin'! Hell, OP could simply open the Pelican, get in, unfold a reflector and sail his way back to San Diego.

+1
When I traveled for work , I took a coiled bycycle cable and a discus lock (they are round and very difficult to cut) and either slid my case under the bed out of view and went around the bed frame (only if its metal--no wood) or I found the biggest plumbing pipe and went around it. If there is a closet for your clothes sometimes there is about a 2 inch pipe running floor to ceiling--that's a solid place to lock to

HAH. Sorry, those are the people I least trust when in a country such as Mexico. I've had stuff swiped by employees, friends have and you hear about it on a regular occurance in the news.
Buy a snowboard lock, they're small and secure. Bolt cutters would cut it but if a person wants your camera equipment THAT bad, it's bound to happen. Like Suzy said, get insurance. It would pay off if anything did happen.

Personally I think all this paraphanelia screams I'M REALLY EXPENSIVE, STEAL ME.
All large hotels have safes. Use it. If you want to keep a camera and a lens around, hotel rooms often also have safes. Not to say it hasn;t happened but I haven't heard anyone losing anything in a hotel room safe.

Pacsafe has cable mesh nets to cover most sizes of backpacks and cases so I am sure you can find on to fit your needs.

why can't you ask the hotel staff at the front desk to hold your camera case for good keeping?
i've been to cabo san lucas, and it's really beautiful down there. the people are friendly too!
oh, and there are numerous security checkpoints as the mexican government take pride in securing a significant amount of income that contributes to their GDP from tourists alike.
