Firstly I'd like to say that I'm still very much a beginner, so if anyone has and advice I'd love to hear it.
The second thing I have working against me was that in the abandoned buildings next to the road I was using were some kids with a paintball gun that decided it was time to call off the shoot. So out of what I managed to get before the barrage here's a few photos.

They are all soft.
The Rebel XT, and I assume the kit lens, have a tough time tracking. I should know, I used to own an XT. Maybe an upgrade is in your future if this is your forte.
First photo's framing is off a bit, the bike needs something to move into.
I do like your PP, it looks very gritty. Just be careful with shadow and highlights, fake looking HDR is never very cool.

Make sure you are focussed on the subject, move your entire upper body as ONE with the camera locked in a frame between your arms, chest and head as you pull the trigger.

Thanks all for the kind words. I'll definitly have to practice my panning.
I have been looking to upgrade, but I'd hate to be "that guy" and upgrade when my skills hasn't even come close to exceeding my gear. I just get really annoyed when I miss the shot because for no reason it picks something new to focus on. And the noise with the XT kills. But an upgrade is a ways out, I cant afford an a new camera anytime soon.
