I just returned from the PMA in Las Vegas. The promotion for the 10D was enormous. Canon had several 10D’s so I had ample time with the camera. The magnesium alloy body “feels” better although it’s about the same dimension as my D30 and D60. The seven point auto focus system was super fast even in low light conditions and clearly superior to the D60. Canon setup a stage where professional photographers performed live portrait sessions. The results were displayed in real-time on several large LCD flat screens above the stage. 15-20 minutes later, large (30 inch plus) poster prints of the models were shown. I must admit, the results were spectacular and what appeared like hours of studio preparation work was accomplished in minutes. Only in the digital workflow world!
The Canon representative “promised” substantial shipments to dealers on March 10th. I already placed a deposit for my 10D last weekend.

Thanks for that posting Dan,

I'm envious of you attending PMA I'm also impressed at the instant results you describe from the Canon show.

You say you've ordered yours but I'm still a bit cautious. Most "new" cameras seem to require some bedding-in at best and at worse, prove to be problematic. The 10D is not really a new camera and therefore, I assume will be on the streets problem free?

What do others think? Has canon really cracked it?

Well I hope so they have had alot of time to fix all the problems with the D60 so the D10 slould be a great camera. The D10 is the camera that the D60 should have been. I have orderd one as well and will test it when I get it out of the box. If it suffers in low light like the D60 it will be on the way back to the store and I will not up grade. Good luck
