Well guys I bought this lens this afternoon; I hope I can get use to using a prime. I have always used zooms. I need something for low light like basketball, dances, in side schools, etc.. I was wanting a 70-200 f/2.8 but I could not afford the 1100.00. I even looked at the 70-200 f/4 but that would have been to slow for inside.
Anyone have any experience with this lens? I will be using this on my 20D so it really will be 300mm or so. Right?

Do you think this will work for volleyball games and basketball? Thanks Jimmy

I have the mk1 version of this lens and I use it with my 70-200 F4 for baseball I find it's a great lens when I want to isolate a player and the bokhe is realy nice

No experience, but I've heard very good things about this lens. It's said to be even sharper than the 70-200 zoom, and it possesses great bokeh.

Since you just got it, you could take it back and get the 70-200 f/2.8 sigma. But yes, the lens will do the job for you in low light situations. Still a solid lens with nice glass.
