I was having a look @ bhphoto website. They will sell the 10D at $1,499.95. Pretty cheap, isn't it ?

If that price holds, I will be getting one making my current D-60 the back-up camera. The only real disapointment is I really would like a full-frame camera so I can get wide angle shots occaisonally. Most (but not all) of my secondary complaints have been addressed (or so it appears).
Hopefully 10D supply will become available before the D-60 needs to be sent in for reapir.

The D60 does wide angle fine. The only thing is to use a lens that is x1.6 wider than you would have chosen. I use the Canon 20-35mm (which is effectively 32-56mm), but there are wider lenses.

I have the 16-35mm and it still does not make it, because the crop factor has a bigger impact on the wider angle lenses in my opinion. My complaint has to do with the fact that I also have a Kodak DC4800 with the lens kit and I get a better wide angle shot perspective-wise from it then my 16-35mm. It is just not as good quality wise as the D-60. I suppose I could buy the 15mm fisheye (or the 14mm f2.8 - not likely at $1800).
Rough guess is I am losing over 25 degrees of angle of the lens (from 108 degrees to about 80 degrees) at the widest. I don't feel like doing the math, but that seems about right. With my longer lenses I lose less say with my 28-135 (at 28mm; 75 degrees goes to about 55 degrees (a drop of about 20), 135mm; 18 drops to about 11 degrees (a drop of only 7 degrees of angle).
If my rough guesses are even close, 25 degrees of angle is a rather significant loss of coverage.
The one time when I lean towards a D30/60/10D specialty lens is for the wide angle lens. They need to keep it under $500 though, because of the limited need.
I can live with the limitation, but doen't mean I have to like it, since I can't justify the cost of a 1Ds at this time. Probably I am just whining, but it is one of the few areas where the camera places limitations on me, versus me on the camera.
Trivia: my angle guess is based on multiplying the 1.6 to the focal length and then finding the angle of the closest lenses on the Canon EF lens chart.
