Here is an old Bi-Plane coming in for a landing. This was taken at a fly-in and seems like the announcer said that Garth Brooks owns this plane. He lives in Owasso, OK and the fly-in was at a town close by, Bartlesville.

Yeah, that wheel gear will do that. Saw the aftermath of S-64 Skycrane that experienced dynamic rollover and burned on a logging job at Knight's Inlet in BC. Used to have a blob of melted aluminum from the transmission kicking around.

Piasecki H-21B Workhorse at the March Field Air Museum (at March AFB). This one was delivered to the USAF on 5 Jan 1956.

Interesting story behind this one. It was seized during a search warrant drug raid on 13 September 1985. It had been abandoned in the Lake Elsinore area by drug transporters and became the property of the Riverside County Sheriff under Federal Law. It was towed to the museum along public roads early in the morning. It was donated to the museum jointly by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department and the City of Riverside Police Department in 1991.

This model of helicopter, actually a modified HU-21, made the first nonstop transcontinental helicopter flight on 24 August 1956.

No old one's of mine but with permission of one of my older brothers: some military aircraft from the early 70's.

Taken at Tengah Airbase, Singapore. All scanned from old slides. Some of the Iroquois airframes were still in service in the RNZAF as recently as 10 years ago. The Skyhawks are awaiting sale, currently wearing rubber protection (as they have for about 3 years)

This is from before I had an SLR or had any idea about things like polarising filters to reduce reflections, but I like the posing of the guys.

I really like this shot Jay. Reminds me of a lot of the WWII shots you'd see of mechanics running engines at night before the next day's mission like this one:

B-17 runup at night (http://www.445bg.org/images/B-17/Production/b-17-023.png)

Too bad there is that leg in the nose. Think it's worth cloning out?

I like the comparison of images.

As for the knee, probably not worth the effort. The image meant more to the person who owns the knee (his first CAF tour as a Loadmaster on SJ) than it really does to me.

I mean:
- I'm off center (had a tow tug in the way)
- bomb bay doors are open (50/50 good/bad)
- background is cluttered
- shutter speed is way too high (no tripod)
- the light is meh
- the shadows are harsh
- there's a building poking in at camera right
- the sky isn't very interesting
- Oh, and there's a big ol' ham hock in the nose glazing!

(Need I say more?)

Nice shot of 149805. The aircraft was born in 1962 as a C-130B and later became a C-130F.

This aircraft was removed from AMARC/BoneYard in 1997 and sold to the South African Air Force. The aircraft was grounded by the SAAF in 1999 and is now stored.

Here's another shot of it. Was not taken by me.

Thanks for the information and the other picture. I got my shot on Kwajalein where we stopped enroute to Okinawa and eventually Vietnam...

About three years ago I was working at Solar Turbines in San Diego and one of my co-workers was looking at my website. He came in the next day and said he had worked on 9805 when he was in the Navy and at the time it was the oldest C-130 in the US Navy.
