They're cheap starter lenses, they'll get you going, you might decide to upgrade later though.

I just found someone near me that's selling their lenses.

EF 24-70 2.8L

EF 70-200 2.8L IS USM

I imagine these would be expensive. But, not as much as new.

Those lenses that are for sale are
L lenses and they are not cheap at all. Even used, they retain their value well. My best guess is that used they are still over 1000dlls a piece.

If you can get those lenses for a decent price, jump on them! I can't afford them right now, but they're definitely on my wish list. Of course, once you buy them you will contract the dreaded "L" fever!

I wish that you had come here for advice first too. Asides from the Canon 28-105 f/3.5-4.5, everything else in the kit is not very desireable. The tripod, bags, flash all look pretty cheap. I think that the majority here prefer Compact Flash cards over MicroDrives too. I'm sure that you'll have plenty of fun with it anyways.

I wish I would've too. Why do most prefer Compact flash? I was thinking a Microdrive would be faster if I popped it right into my pcmcia slot on my laptop. Or is CF faster.

CF cards are a LOT faster than microdrives... Microdrives are a lot slower... They get you by just fine.. if your not shooting too much continious... If your shooting sports games or anything action in continious drive mode... your gona eventually want a High Speed CF card. Another downside of microdrives is they use a LOT more battery power than a CF card. (not to mention the rebels battery isnt really a rebel...) Thats another reason i went to the 20D... I had the rebel for like 3 months.. but i was chargings a lot more than i wanted to. Let me know how it does for you, maby i had a bad batt.

About thoes L lenses.... thats Gods lens... it dont get better than that... Even buying used, like homeboy said, they hold their resale... Id just bue em new since u really dont save that much.. People buy on ebay for as much as it cost new! If ur gettin em for a giid discount, just buy em a resell em =)

well, that kit will get you going. eventually, if you get really serious about it, you can always upgrade, as you might want to. there's nothing wrong with starting out on the cheap. i know lots of folks that don't even have a cheapo tripod yet, and have been shooting for years. microdrives are nice for the amount of space for the price, but they have a tendancy drain batteries, as well as have a higher risk of failure due to the moving parts. compact flash are very durable, and don't require as much power. i heard of people washing them in teh washing letting it dry and it still works. not that i'd advise that, but it's possible. you got a nice camera, some nice focal lengths to play with. just get to learning how to use that thing, and when you figure out what type of things you'd like to improve (better picture quality, longer/wider zoom range) , ask around here for advise.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll call that guy about those "L" Lenses. He's right here near me. Maybe I'll luck out and get a good deal. Ya'll are definately right about CF. I didn't even think about durability. Moving parts ain't a good Idea. And the story about the CF in the Laundry. LOL I know that one. My friend washed his twice, with pics on it. No problems at all. Well, I can't wait to get my camera. I'm already addicted to a few kinds of shooting. Marco I'm definately addicted to, after seeing all the pics here. MUST HAVE CAMERA NOW!! Thanks again for the help.
