50mm 1.8 + take two steps forward.

IMO that is about it for for significantly less $? 85 is a VERRY competitively priced lens

I have one... I bought it even before i bought my 20D... for the price, and the reviews it got, it was a no brainer... I dont use it with any UV filters or anything, if i break it, ill buy another, for $90, its a great lens. It even focuses faster than the 18-55 Lens that comes with the camera.

agree 100% 50 f/1.8. Nothing cheaper will even come close for low light performance.
