Hi

I have a Lowel DV 44 kit I got it for video but it seconds for photographs , its a portable kit that Ive used twice and blown 2 globes , one was because of a bad design flaw where you can focus the light but its rough made and can easily bang the globe into contact with the reflector instant dead globe , the other went just by tilting the softbox up at the sealing , got me wondering how you guys get on with portable kits and globes .

Thanks Rod

Two things can drastically shorten the life of a halogen photo bulb. The first, as you experienced, is shock. Even picking up and setting down a light on a stand can cause it to blow. The second is oils from your fingertips which cause the bulb to overheat. When installing halogen bulbs always handle them with a cloth or tissue, never with bare fingers.
