I though I'd try a tighter than normal crop with this pic. But I really don't know if it works? I think I like it? What are your opinions?

I kinda like the crop myself. Very sharp photo.

I think I feel very similarly to you - I think I like it. It might be a touch too tight.....
Gorgious eyes, and so sharp. Very nice.

Assuming that you want to partially crop the head, you have two principle options - very tight or fairly loose. This is somewhere in between, which I think doesn't really work. I would suggest loosening the crop just a litttle.

Other then that its a lovely picture - particularly the facial expression.

Good work! :)

Love that messy face. It may be a little too tight though. Was this an in camera crop?
Just curious, was the pic taken inside or out? Any flash?

Was taken inside with flash. The crop is aftermark. Origional is mid-body up, so I can re-crop it as much or as little as I like. I guess I was trying to be a little abstract. But I'm not really artistic enough!

How about this one?

I like the first image, it's a little gross and slimey, but I think the crop is nice and works fine. But i'm a non-traditional, cropped head, edgy photo likin' kind of a guy...

The first shot is priceless. The tight crop is definately an in-your-face shot with a great simple caption.

I like it it (first shot) makes it really intimate
Doesn't work so well with the second one, that intimacy isn't there, it's just a tight crop

I think the first shot is great !

I love the colours in it and the focus seems to draw everything right to that messy mouth..

Excellent shot ! :)

Thanks all. As I said, I was trying to go a little abstract, but am not very artistice. So I didn't really know if I achieved what I was after.

I would have to agree with Big_B! Great photos, but I think if you cropped a little tighter, you would like it more. Maybe try it without the messy face and cropping tight? Here's an example of my baby girl that I took trying out a lens. The crop was done in composition with the camera and the lighting was poor, but maybe you'll see what I'm getting at. Had a lot of mixed opinions of this pic earlier, but my wife LOVES it.

Hey, I do like that tight crop. Thanks. I'll have to try a few from the camera and see how they go. I really like your pic, and I don't think the lighting is poor at all. Nothing a little post processing can't brighten up. So I had a quick go myself. Hope you don't mind, but I really enjoy PP with Photoshot. Let me know if you wan't it removed?

NO! Don't remove it. Nice job. My only point is that I want to learn to take good photos from the shutter and only have to adjust a few levels in my RAW conversion versus touching up every photo I take. That's all. Glad you like the photo, hope it gives you more ideas. Every photo I see here gives me more ideas, including yours! :D Now, to find the time to shoot more...
