24-70 Locks up?

Hello All,

this past weekend while in the middle of shooting a wedding reception, our relatively new 24-70 EF L lens stopped working as if the power was gone. It was totally out of focus and was unresponsive on our 20D, we took it off and tried it on a rebel, and the same thing.... left it off for a few minutes and then it seemed to come back to life...

Has any one else had similar event?

did you try switching the AF/MF switch back and forth?

Yes I tried everything I could think of, turned camera on & off, took lens off and reconnected, flipped auto focus on & off, I even pulled the battery out of the camera.... we were wondering if the ultrasonic components overheated?
