Thanks for your comments. I didn't use any close up filters i just used the G6 set at super-macro with a touch of fill flash, but as you can see fromthe orginal i cropped it slightly to recompose the shot which i think worked pretty well........

Realy fantastic shot, lots of macros dont show the inviroment where these creatures live, hunt etc, this tells a story as in part of a day in a ladybirds life, where they go, what they hunt, tell you what that G6 is some camera, very impressed.

I've also seen a lot of Macros shots as well, this one is far and above one of the best I've seen where it tells a story about the bug in question. A most excellent job with clarity, composition, DOF, lighting and of course, subject. A very impressive shot. Kudos to you.

I have tried so hard to catch a ladybug shot, and failed. I am impressed.

Your comments just like Martin Images are very touching, i can't believe some comments that have been said about some of my work and at the end of the day it is only a G6, a small compact camera. I've even got the chance to shoot a wedding with my G6 which if i must say feel confident, i have 2 batteries at least, i may get another flash card yet, we'll see.......??but thanks again for your comments.

Your photo's are very good up to date so far, i'm very impressed. The photo in question though wasn't that easy, it was very breezy and i had to hold the prickly thistle to ease the movement, the beetle was also moving too here and there, so go and have a go and try, it pays.....keep an eye out for my caterpillars.....??

I am very impressed by your picture.
I have tried ladybuggs, but they are not very easy to shot, because
when you approach, they move and dont offer a good angle of view.
By the way, is your super macro mode on the G6 a standard feature
of the camera ?
I ask this because on my G3 I have to mess-up with a mode that is not
normally allowed to get into "super macro mode"

Thanks for your comments, and yes the super-macro is a standard on the G6. I've heard of people having to use manual focus on earlier 'G' models but i find that there is no problem with the G6 and another thing i'm impressed with is i use the built in Flash for fill in even at the close range i don't get a fall off at the bottom right of my shots where maybe some compact cameras may suffer.......

I can also use the built-in flash with my G3 in super macro mode and when I get
too much power because I am too close, I just mask the flash with one or two
layers of white paper to reduce the flash power.

Can you not lower the flash output on a G3?
