I send off my 300D for repair hot shoe wasn't working properly. Well I had to send the Camera,Lens, and of course my 420ex so they could test the units as one. I call Mack today because I recieved an email that my lens was fixed and ready to ship. So I call Mack and the first lady was RUDE didn't answer my question of where my camera was. I call back second lady really nice they separated my lens and camera when it arrived. I don't know how they tested the camera without the lens. And then they had to look all over the place because the lens, body, and flash were all separated. I hope they did have intentions of shipping back the body without the lens since I didn't send in the cap for the body. I swear I so upset right now. I was going to buy a Mack warranty for my lens but now I'm having second thoughts.....thanks for reading.

Hope all goes well, 93.
Just a suggestion, if you use a credit card to buy your stuff, some will extend the manufacturer's warranty. An example is American Express, as well as some Visa and Master Cards. So, if an item has a one year warranty, you'll actually have 2 years.
Good luck.

Um, I have yet to hear about someone that is impressed by Mack's services...

Sorry about your misfortune, 93octane.

You have it repaired by Canon. There's some simple paperwork that the cc company sends to you to fill out. Send it back with a copy of the repair bill, and they reimburse you. I've only had to do it once, was very easy.
But check with your cc company and make sure they do this (call customer service). A lot of them do, but some don't (it's a perk offered by some cc companies to get you to use their card).
Hopefully all your stuff will come back fine this time. Also, if you didn't do it this time, when you ship anything be sure to ship it "signature required". That way you know it was delivered.

I called my Credit Card and they do offer this service. I guess now I'm covered for one more year and can avoid Mack. And I feel safe my 70-200 F4L is covered by another 1 more additional year. Thanks for the great advice..

Just to clarify a point you raised. They don't need your camera to calibrate your lens. They can calibrate it against a standard body.

I was wondering about that myself... why should they need the entire setup just to fix a single thing? They should have enough equipment on-hand to be able to test it themselves and not make you be without nearly everything...

They probably want the camera too in case the lens is fine against a standard camera body. Then they can check out your camera. If all your other lenses work fine, it isn't really needed.

true, but then if the lens is covered but the camera isn't, it's not like they'd fix the camera or anything...

TO make things clear the body was the one with the problem the hot shoe to be exact the lens was OK and the flash was OK too. I had to send the flash so they could test my good flash with the faulty hot shoe and I sent the lens so they didn't have an excuse of "well we need your lens so the camera can work or we need your flash to test the unit" so I sent everything to speed up the processes. Never again I'll stick with the credit card warranty and send it to Canon.

Where is this Mack camera repair located? I have never had any desire to aquire one of these warranties due to the hard sell that is always associated with it. And the fact that Canon and Nikon would be better suited to do the repairs on this high tech camera gear. The one camera repair shop by me will not touch the digital gear, it goes back to the manufacturer.

And I hope you get all of your gear back.

Location wise I have no idea where ever is listed on Macks website to ship for repair I don't remember where I sent it to. I talked to them on Friday and told me it had been repaired and tested by quality control and that is was ready to ship back and should be recieve it sometime next week. They told me they found all my stuff body, lens, and flash. We'lll see if is really fixed and I hope they were able to put it back together properly and hope my mirror is not dirty my biggest concern. Like I said next time I'll ship it to Canon for any work done I hope I never have a problem with it again until I upgrade to a 10D or 20D.

I've said it in a previous post; AVOID MACK AT ALL CO$T! The facility is a mom and pop "one hour photo shop" with a few benches in the back, and "techs" who I suspect may well rotate between working the counter and repairing your expensive camera equipment! I've had 2 separate frig-ups with them within a 2 month period - one of which downed my DSLR for the entire summer for a speck of dust! Everyone I know who has had dealings with them also suggest staying well clear. Those so called "extended warranties" are a scam. Caveat emptor!!

I live about 10 minutes from Springfield.
I still wouldn't trust my stuff with them.

I've never been there, 93. No reason to. As I posted, I wouldn't buy/use the Mack warranty on anything. Too many horror stories.
