I'm looking for an inexpensive tripod to use with my 7D when filming hi-def videos, as I found it very unstable to use indoors with fully-extended Tamron 28-75mm.

I've never used a tripod before, and looking for some suggestions on which one to use. I'm tall (6'3"), so I'm looking for the one that extends high, and is quite portable to carry around. I found one at Frys Electronics -> http://www.frys.com/product/5994954?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG by Zeikos, and not sure if it's any good. Also, does it rotate the camera sideways to 90 degrees to take full-body shots?

I've got a cheap WalMart tripod and it was OK if I don't extend it much. I just ordered this one.

As far as Zeikos, I have a bag of theirs. It's junk... the zipper sticks most every time I try to open or close and it just feels cheap.

Check out some garage sales. There are an awful lot of old tripods, some very stable if you watch what you are buying. These are left from the old heavy camcorders that have long died but the tripods live on!!

I have bought 8 or ten at garage sales locally, and the most I paid was $4.00 for a very nice Velbon aluminum tripod and most have only paid $1.00. But make sure they have the panhead and screws and/or slide plates. I use them for light stands, and keep one in the yard with a black piece of pipe on it I move aroung the yard, and even have 2 I use for sprinkler stands. (which is a better use of some for sure than putting an $1500.00 camera on one.

If you really want a real good one, don,t buy a cheap used one unless you know what you are buying and are very careful??
