2nd one is great. I am not sure if I like or not the shallow DOF... I think I like it. :-)

I like #2 :D

How long did it take you to clean your lens?

Best regards,
Andy

REALLY?!? Imho, that COMPLETELY makes the picture. They're both REALLY great (LOVE THE SHOES!!), but #2 is I think one of the best pictures I've seen here. There are very few that stand out in my head... #2 will likely be one of them.

Thank you for the great feedback! When I did the shot, I did want him oof, maybe not that much but it was what I was going for! Sometimes not an easy task with a point and shoot. I think I may have lost a bit of detail in the conversion too!!!!! Spirit, ya made my day!

I agree... that the DOF in #2 makes the shot!!
It puts things in perspective... ;)

lmfao, you don't even know! His dad met a hockey celeb last weekend and got their pic done and lo and behold the boy was digging for gold! We managed to clone the offending finger out!

I wholeheartedly agree - the shallow DOF makes this picture stand out more. The eye starts at the dirt and works back towards that beautiful smiling face. It captures that 'little boy' spirit, complete with dirt. The out of focus face gives it a sense of informality and playfulness, IMO. Very nice!

Lisa: Color might be cute (I'd have to see it to form an opinion), but this picture just SCREAMS black and white to me. Even sepia (if overdone) could ruin it's "je ne sais quoi". Of course this is just my opinion, but this picture is absolutely brilliant, and should be put in a book where the little boy could show HIS grandkids.

You've got a BIG winner here. But again... that's JMHO. ;)

I totally agree. Great DOF for the shot. However, I'm not sure I like the finger in front of the eye?
