Well, the first shot, its out of focus on the main part, the eyes, the second a bit better, but whats the pic trying to tell us, the third, is the best, quite moody, good looking model, and the reflection adds a touch of interest, it needs to be sharpened and more contrast given, below is a example has how you could improve the look,

I agree with what was said/done above. With animals the eyes are important to have focused (to me anyway). I do like the composition with the bird though.
The car shot I like, but I'm biased being a certified Ford junkie!!
Oh, and you're right about this site, lots of great people and info here, so welcome!

Hi
PSCS2 program, smart sharpen, plus contrast sharpening using unsharpe mask amount 27%>radious 55%>thresholdo%, this contrast sharpen can be used in any area in the picture by selecting with lasso tool, also used the dodge tool to lighten the eyes and hair, amount set to 12%, any facial blemishes can be removed but the image is for web and to small to do better realy,

1. A little more breathing room around the head would help. (+ the focus issue)
2. Too 'moody', not sharp, lines running into the trunk. Take a look at this:
A few Car Lighting Tips (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=70290)
3. I like where you're going with it, but would restrict the sharpening to the eyes. There are tutorials on that in the "Post Processing" Stickys.
Simply, select the eyes with a feather, copy to a new layer, sharpen, & adjust the transparency to taste.

Images #1 and #2 could be more in focus/more sharpening.
