Here are a few more Heron pictures from early this morning. Taken on the Sarasota Bay from a local pier. It's too bad Dennis is on it's way as I was hoping to take more pictures. :cry: :( :cry:

Thanks cfcRebel... we decided to wait it out and so far all we have recieved is heavy rain and wind. Dennis seems to be heading more west now, so maybe... maybe the last week of our vacation can be saved. I'm keeping my fingers crossed...

Nice shots, like the third egret and the first heron. Do you know what kind of heron it is?

Currently Dennis has passed my area to the North West off shore and we are dealing with the outer bands of the storm. It's heading for the panhandle now, so my prayers go out to the families in that area and I hope your family is out of harms way.

Do they make white Herons?

I'm new to birding, so if it's not a Heron I appologize. If it is a Heron, they must be bleached from the Sun as there are literally thousands of white variants here. :cool:

If Dennis wasn't around I was planning to visit a bird sanctuary to take some additional pictures and learn about the local wild life. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed as we're here until Friday. Hopefully the weather clears up by then. If not, there's always next year...
