Challenge #267 - Force

Gravity is probably the most well known force on the planet, but it certainly isn't the only one. This week's challenge will focus on using photography to communicate the forces behind the subject, whether the muscles of an athlete or the steam engine, this challenge is all about what makes things happen.
_____________________________

Winner: boutty. This is a great capture with the motion blur on the wings and the still body. Definitely communicates the thrust of the wings.

2nd: barhopr. A little bit underexposed for my tastes, though I certainly understand what you were going for. Great positioning the capture the force moving down the line.

3rd: marie. One can definitely see the forces being utilized in this shot. Great capture, I especially love the woman in the background.

It was very difficult to pick a winner among the great entries, so congrats everyone. I look forward to seeing what's in store for the next challenge.

Congratulations to the participants.

Challenge #267 was officially closed at Monday noon GMT after the post of IainB.

Probably, 'real life' duties are the culprit of the delay on announcing the winners.

athrasher as the host/judge of this week and Boutty and marie as the second and third places of past challenge were contacted by PM to get this challenge judged and the next one running soon.

Thanks for your patience; as always, addicted to these challenges will solve this small problem before Wednesday noon GMT, in time for the next challenge. :)

Good luck to all.

I wanna know....

what the heck is behind Boutty's title? Something to do with golf?

Terrific challenge and such entertaining photos. Has anyone heard from Canon wanting to buy your photo yet?

Congratulations to the winners. Funny Bob...I was considering an egg photo too.

Congrats all... some great entries and certainly some creative interpretations. I was out this week with family matters.

Marie, great shot... of 'Jacque' and 'Dotti'.

Definite laughs/enjoyed IVO, BobYU, and Cory the Creative.
IanB, I once responded to an ad for a sailboat... when I showed up it turns out it was in a similar condition, though it was about 2 to 3 feet sunken. Talk about shock! What a laugh.

Congratulations, Boutty, barhopr and marie for the beautiful pictures.

Boutty, I love the blurred wings and the tack sharp head and beak on your picture.
I'm surprised of the amount of blur achieved at 1/125 sec.

Nicely done barhorp, second place on the first post on the forums! Welcome to POTN.
It's interesting how the thin string centered in the image adds a perception of motion to the picture.

Great capture, marie. I decided to wait for your description instead of undertaken the risk of an interpretation. :)

Poor nut withstanding the excessive force of the sledgehammer, teekay. Quite on topic and very rich textures and colors those of your picture.

Thanks for the always difficult job of judging, athrasher. Sorry to hear about the flu; take care of your health.

I enjoyed more than one specially good feature on every entry this week, great job all!

Congratulations, Boutty, barhopr and marie, great shots from everyone as always.
Hope you are on the mend athrasher.
I didn't get round to entering this week as the girls have both had tummy bugs - you know how it is - one just gets over it just in time for the other to pick it up!
Fingers crossed all clear now tho so should be back in for #268:D
