Hi Guys,

I took this photo when I was in Paris and I want to make it larger to hang on my wall. However, I am an absolute numpty when it comes to all of the photography specifacations so it may be absolutely crap from a photographers perspective.

Can you tell me what is good and what is bad about the photo? I want to learn so any adivse would be great. Should I make it colour or black and white too?

Also, if you feel it is salvagable I would really love for someone to tweak the picture with photoshop to make it looks its best colour or black and white, do whatever you want.

Just a quick color and contrast tweak and a little sharpening on the fisrt. Horizion correction and black and white added to the second.

I think this is the Tuillery Palace garden if I am not mistaken. Shot into the sun so the fountain creates a over exposed spot right in the center. Next time you go there (or any other place you want to remember) pick a different angle so that you do not shoot into sun. - or a different time of day. Try to distribute the main points of interest left, right and center - or if there is only one: either on the left or on the right (rule of thirds). Try not to crop the top of buildings by zooming out a bit or steppeing back.

Sawyer8877 did a good job in post processing but had not much to start with, I am afraid.

A lot of good edits above, so i tried something a bit different :p The others are better, but I had fun playing with it and though I might as well post it.

Heres my attempt

top may be a little pixelated as i tried to get some detail out of it, if you shot this in raw you would have a lot room for recovery

I think this turned out quite good. Very convincing. And a cool subject for it.

Thanks!

OP: If you like this version, I have a better tiff version that I can email to you. I had time to tweak it more today using Lightroom. (I tried to show more detail of the water droplets in the fountain, added a bit of vignetting too).

If you decided a specific split-toned color, let me know. I`ll do split-toned. Here is a sample of split-toned (yellow-blue). It does create a more 3D like appearance than black and white. :-)

I know that there are lots of memories involved in this one pic and only the OP knows about it. I know that feeling and trying to help out a bit. If he did not mention he wants it framed, i would not be spending more than 5minutes of PP. ;-)
