okay got a question here, does getty images pay for the photos on their site and if so how much? I was on there just checking what they charge for usage of photos on there but couldnt find what the photographer gets out of it..... am i missing it someplace?

Are you talking about Gettyimages or Istockphoto that is owned by Getty?
There is a huge difference between both. A lot of events are shot for Getty. They sell lots of images on a daily process. They pay the photographer a margin of the price of the rights.

i was talking about regular getty images, i seen them selling photos from events i cover for $50 for personal use photos and upwards to $800 for photos for like autograph cards and what not, and thats way more than i or any other photog that I know at these events charge. So I was just curious what the photog got for these shots, didnt know if i should be tying to make a switch and get on board with Getty or not

It depends, some Getty shooters get a day fee to go shoot and then usually 50% of every sale as well. The photos they get from amateurs via Flickr and other sites they bought get less, maybe 30%. 50-60% of each sale is common with stock agencies.
