Well I finally made the decision. After agonizing over what to buy for a longer lens for my XT I just ordered a 70-200 f/4L from B&H. Now I just need to figure out what to do with myself until next Friday when it is delivered. Sure hope that it lives up to its reputation.

I assure you it will! It's a fantastic lens at an affordable price. Doesn't get better than the 70-200mm f/4L. :-)

Just got mine today. I love it already. All I had before this is the kit lens and the thrifty fifty on my 300d so this was a huge upgrade over those, you will love this lens. A sample pic taken today to help that L fever your gonna develop soon:

My first L should lob in on Monday or Tuesday.
I need another coffee.
We should invent a word for this feeling, or maybe its in the shrink's manuals already somewhere... I've had some great Zuiko lenses before, but it was always a few years old at least. And never in this dollar league...

Wow. There's a thread like this every few days -- I would like to have a thread that -cha ching!- records the purchases of members here during a 30day period. Not sales/sellers, just buyers putting their hands up with a rough dollar figure incl shipping.. and someone running a total.
Guessing $50K a month lately. Nah, its more than that.
Why?
For fun... to see how much it is... to use as a lever for a POTN discount somewhere...
edit------
just set up a spending survey thread:

L anticipation syndrome = irritability, insomnia, night sweats, guilt, anxiety, and feelings of impending doom (awaiting the CC statement).
Feel free to add some more. Maybe we can get this syndrome approved for the
Diagnostics and Statistics Manual for Mental Disorders V ( DSM V).

Congrats on the purchase! Funny how this "L" fever works. I started with a 20D and the kit lens, said I would only need like 2 or 3 more lenses. I started with the 70-200mm f4L, within two months, see my list below...

I'm with Carzee, I'm surprised a vendor isn't already on here trying to get all the business POTN members utilize. With all the buying that goes on in here I can't see how a vendor can't make an arm and a leg even with a discount, I know over the long run it would pay off.
But all well.
Good luck with your new lense and make sure you post pics!

Kram,
I know what you mean! My wife was fit to be tied with all of the boxes coming in on a daily basis. The tuff one was the 1DMKII, but it looked allot like the 20D w/grip, so it was easy to confuse her for awhile! She is now comfortable with it all, but still gives me a jab now and then. I am done for awhile, just waiting for that 12mp Canon camera to become available, and I will start again!
Mike
Oh, and that 35mm 1.4L is on the list, but that will have to wait...

Well, I should say it will probably go out on Monday and be at my work on Thursday, but I cannot get in to get it until Friday as I have classes all day Thursday. I know that B&H is really quick.

Hey Mike,
I see that you have both the F4 and the F2.8 IS,
Do you use both lenses for different applications or is it redundant to have both?
