Thanks to my wife I caught these two girls making friends at my daughters soccer game. She hollered at me and frantically pointed to this pair that had just met. I really wished I had a shorter lens than my 70 - 300 sigma that night - but I did the best I could to capture the moment.
The brown haired girl is the daughter of our best friends and if you are lucky enough to catch her unawares she is very photogenic - If she knows you are taking pics though - you can forget it. (unless she decides its a good idea - she is quite the character a real fun personality)
I like the set better in sepia so thats how I am posting them. I lost some clarity in resizing to jpg but wasn't sure if tiff worked here.
Tips, comments, advice, critism's are welcome and appreciated! (gotta learn some how)
Thanks Rick

The sepia definately works and the series is amazing! Great captures of the moment! The field that they met in was the perfect back drop.
Great job!

What a beautiful series of pictures - I agree with the remarks regarding sepia, it really does work well here

I think the torn bordser works best with these sepia shot, also the low contrast fits with 'old' pictures.
Such sweet pictures you could make honey from them!

Thanks so much for all the compliments everyone! I am so happy with these (thank God my wife saw the girls playing and pointed them out to me to take the pictures). I was thinking of experimenting with blurring the backround or backround edges - I'll play with it later and post it for comparison.
- the brunette girl we are close friends of her parents and I already gave them prints and a CD - the other girl, I made sure to get her mothers email during the game and I am leaving a CD with all the pics at the local photolab for her.
I also got permission from her first before posting the pictures here. I feel better posting pics of kids when the parents know about it - it would be a shock to come across pics of you child online when you aren't aware of it - slim chance but I feel better knowing.

If anyone is interested I can post the steps for the sepia torn edges that I did with these later when I get back home from work.

OK here is the procedure I use - its not mine I got it from here (requires photoshop and is very easy to follow its step by step instruction)
http://vinterstille.dk/making-photos-look-old
The only thing I did different is I used a Saturation value of 30 instead of the 50 recommended and I used my own edge template that I made.
The article doesn't explain how to make both images the same size - so if you don't know this open the picture you want to edge. Click Image then click down on Image Size - write down the pixel values for width and height in the top 2 boxes (or memorize if your memory is better than mine). Open the edge template you want to use and again Click Image - Image Size - remove the constrain proportions check mark from the box if it is there, type in the same values and click OK now they are the same size.
If anyone has questions feel free to PM me.
