Hi everyone... First of all let me tell you this is a great forum to be a part of. I got my Digi rebel 3 days back and can't keep my hands off them. Learnt all the mechanics from the manual supplied along with the kit. But the kit manual does not talk about how to take care of the lenses.

a) I happened to notice a fingerprint on the lens. I must have accidentally placed my finger on the lens glass. What do i do to get them off? Is there a special cleaning fluid or do i just wipe them off with a plain cloth?

b) Is there a site for canon where they show different photographs shot and these photographs are explained in detail like shutter speed, lens used, etc. I would like to learn more about photography and hence this query.

Thank you!

I found the best tool for cleaning my lenses is a "Lens Pen". They can be had at most all camera shops for around $6-10 US. It has a brush at one end and a spongey eraser end for those oily fingerprints. It works great, and won't hurt any coatings on your lens.

And I also use a high quality micro fibre cloth for wiping the camera back and lenses down. It will not scratch up the LCDs on the top or back of the camera. I use it dry, as it sucks up all the finger prints an cheeck and nose blemishes right off the camera.

For many years, the average neighborhood camera shop has sold a lens cleaning kit. The kit contains one small blower-brush, a small bottle of lens cleaning solution, a small piece of micro-fiber cloth, and some lens tissue. The price used to be about $5, but they are up to about $10 now. For typical dust and figerprints on a lens, that's all you need.
