this is down in Balboa Park in San Diego...very cool tree

That root system is a fabulous subject! One could spend an entire day shooting that as the light changes with sun movement. Opportunities for interesting shots are near limitless. A great find!

I was thinking the same thing. I was there when the sun was really high, but I think early or late in the day would have much more interesting shadows.
I will get back there at some point.

Nice shots... I know this tree well... I actually have shots of me standing on it when I was like 10 or 12 years old... I am 38 now. My parents took me there as a kid.

thanks, due to time of day the color shots didn't look very good but the b&w were kind of cool.
I am going to go back someday a little before sunset so the light will be coming from the left side giving more interesting shadows and a bit more depth to the shot.
