I got my t1i a few months ago and just started taking pics. I am looking into getting some accessories like a flash and lens hood but it seems like I can't get the lighting right. Please be kind. I am in no way a pro just want to take some good pictures

Hi niseface - welcome to the forum.
Watch out for pointing the camera down your subject's ear and for chopping hands and ears (#1 and #2), also be aware of making sure your camera is level (see #5). A great start, I like #6.

Hi and welcome!
Cute child photos, nice and sharp on the eyes. The second one, pity the ear is cropped, and I want to see what he's looking at, there is a great expression of wonder in the eyes, and he's pointing up. So more in the shot would have been nice. The pouty expression in 3 is a great capture.
Horizon is a bit crooked in 5, and the whites are too bright. But interesting location and the framing looks good to me otherwise.
I also like 6 :D

Welcome to POTN
Next time you post, leave a space in between your photos;)
THese crops are just too tight for me, cropping out many pieces and parts of the child. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Watch your focus point..
Last one is interesting.

Adorable little subject. Awesome potential. You are off to a good start. Some great advice has already been provided above.

thanks for the advice, I never really noticd the cropped off body parts lol. I was just focusing on their face. I appreciate the advice.
Flo what do you mean by focus points? Are they not in focus?
I have the canon rebel t1i and the 18-55mm basic lens what should be my next move? I was thing a flash. Any suggestions

#1, I see the collar area of her short if in focus, but that leaves the rest of her soft.
#2. This one is sharp, but the crop doesn;t work
3. The hat and one eye are in focus for me, but leaves the entire bottom area OOF
4. Cutest for me, and the focus is great, but again, crop
6. The perspective is great.clarity is good.

Don't upgrade gear! Learn how to use it. Read the manual...figure out how to switch focus points, shoot in manual and Av/Tv modes, shoot in RAW format, etc. Your pictures look great for how long you've been shooting.
