I am wanting to take some photographs of my kids and I was wondering what is the most economical flash/light setup for the house? I have A Canon 20D, 24-70L Lens, 580 Flash.
Can someone here tell me what else I need such as reflectors and how to setup a basic flash studio in a room? Something that is very portable and light weight. Thanks Jimmy

Bounce the flash off a white ceiling or wall. If you have neither, hang a white sheet in an appropriate place and bounce the flash off it. The resulting lighting will be MUCH softer and more pleasant looking than direct flash.

Bounce works great, and you might even get better results if you use a diffuser such as the LumiQuest 80/20. With my 420EX I found that even when I use bounce flash off a white ceiling that sometimes I pick up a bit of color on my subject from surrounding walls. With the 80/20 I never seem to have this problem.

When I don't have a low enough white ceiling to bounce off of I use a LumiQuest Mini-Softbox.
