Ok, that was a lot to cram into the title but hope I got my point across. I KNOW filters are a personal choice. I personally chose not to use them mainly because I never felt a need for them.
My next purchase will be the Canon 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM and through all of my research one of the biggest gripes about this lens is the lack of weather seal and the constant dust that gets inside. From what I understand, a filter should help in this case. B&H recommends this filter below for $50

77mm Ultraviolet UV(0) Haze Multi-Coated Glass FilterIn your experience and/or opinion, what do you think? Is the filter needed for this lens? If so, is this the one to go with or are there other options that would work better?
