This was my very first outing with my 450d and kit lens.

When i arrived my mind went blank so forgot a lot of what i had read.

Decided to set the camera to TV mode that way i could control the shutter speed and slow things down which i enjoyed especially around the pit lane freezing all the action.

Tried some panning shots aswell need lots more practice at this but still good fun.

The first couple i know are over exposed was messing with ISO settings elsewhere and forgot to change all part of the learning process.

These pics are straight from the camera

good work for your first try - your pans are good, but I would concentrate on framing when shooting in the pits. Your static shots could use some more interesting perspective and better framing to make them more interesting

160-200 is my sweet spot... since I don't have a IS lens...

Thanks for your reply.

How would you go about framing in a pitlane ? the only other style shots i have are taken from further back to get in more action.

I like #4 and the panning shots , for me with #4 the framing is better as it is from the side for the others where the bottom of the car is missing I want to scroll down

Thanks Adrian i see what you mean about wanting to scroll down so i would be better getting more shots like this where all the action is visible.

You could try shooting from a lower perspective - kneel down, it usually gives everything a more dramatic view. Shooting is just trial and error, you'll find something you like on accident, and you'll stick with it! Like I said, it was a good first effort - I was just giving you some inspiration for next time. Always try something new each time you go to the track
