I've been approached by an aspiring model for test shots. These are body and head shots sans makeup. It's not my usual gig. I've done a bit of research and haven't found any hard and fast rules unique to this kind of shoot.

Would any of you experienced glamour shooters be so kind as to share words of wisdom? What are modeling agencies looking for in these shots, apart from the obvious? Are there any major faux pas other than the usual (e.g., OOF, exposure off, etc.) Do they expect un-retouched photos?

I advised her: neutral colors, no patterns. I have a portable blue screen, (but might use a bare wall), two softboxes with 580-EX-IIs, ST-E2, 20D, 40D, assortment of good lenses.

Thanks.

If you have zero experience in shooting models and are asking what your local agencies want for model portfolio shoots here, then you really have very little chance of getting useful pictures for the model. 1) Models do not need good pictures to get signed with agencies in NYC, they just have to go to casting calls where they take polaroids. 2) Your portfolio and equipment do not show any success with model portfolio pictures.

Likewise, I will do not expect to be a F1 Race Card Driver just because I have a Corvette.
