Can't we just ban links to eBay? I mean, if I wanted to look at auctions, I'd just go straight to eBay instead!

I support this idea but I am sure Mods know better than I do

Agreed. Get very tired of seeing a title to an item I want, only to see it is a link to eBay. Which I already saw when scouring eBay. Or posting that it will go to eBay after so many days without selling. If you're going to list it on ebay just close your thread. Since "auction" style posts aren't allowed, ebay posts shouldn't be either.

People putting links up to eBay should really be putting "FA:" in their post title (and to a large extent, they do), so if you don't want to see an auction, don't click on the thread.
But, for some people, it's a worthwhile way of buying equipment.

I agree, IŽd rather just not see ebay links at all, the whole point of selling here is not having to deal with ebay, but rather people I know and trust.

For me, the whole point of listing here is to gain exposure to sell my item. I usually sell something outright and therefore put it on my website, but sometimes I have something that is broken and repairable or I would just let go for whatever it fetches, so I put it on eBay starting at 99 cents. The ability to link to it on here lets even more people know about it.
