A FYI to anyone that is thinking about getting into sports photography. There’s couple of upcoming sports photography workshops being offered in the Los Angeles area. Check the link listed below for more information. I wished there was a workshop like this when I started out. By the way, I’m not the one teaching the workshops.

Cool - thanks. I'll look more into it after I finish downloading the 499 shots I took at the motocross place in Lake Elsinore today. I am going to take a WAG and say "I think I can use a workshop or two."
LOL!

Sweeet,
I just joined this forum so I could start learning from everyone online but a workshop is probably even better. Thanks for the heads up.

I had just found out about this workship by my local photography store. It seems quite engaging especially with the hands-on teaching and image assessments. Who else is going? I'd love to meet more people interested in sports photography!

Ben for someone just starting out who cannot attend your workshop :( could you tell me what is the best way to start out. I am on a limited budget and would like to know of any information on the internet, books, etc that might help me get a start in sports photography.
Thank you

Hi, Elizabeth, beside the Pekka’s Canon Forum here, if you are interested in PJ (photojournalism), you will get tons of info on http://www.sportsshooter.com/. If you are interested in sports photography in general, then I Fred’s site is pretty good, http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/board/47. Other site like http://forums.robgalbraith.com/ubbthreads.php will also have some valuable information.
I am also teaching a 3-hr. seminar at Bel Air Camera on 9/3/05. If you are in So Cal, this is a very good introduction course. http://www.belaircamera.com/. Good luck. Ben
