I was looking at the 300-800 for fun this morning on B&H. There are two and I am confused.. There are two:
1)EX DG APO IF, $6199
2)EX APO IF, $4999
What the heck is DG that makes it worth $1200 more? Is it worth it?
Thanks,

No. 2 looks like a 'bargain' to me. About the best lens I've ever seen. Paint it white and who would ever know  :D

DG's from Sigma have special coatings that help reduce ghosting and other phenonemon on dSLRs.

Hmmm, 300-800mm? That might make a good birding lens.

Has anyone tried using this lense for motorsports? You get a great range (300-800) for less than the Canon 600L.

Who are "sigma4less"? After reading this post, I visited their website and their prices seem significantly lower than I recall from other sites. Is sigma4less selling the same lenses, or are the lenses used? Gray-martket? Something else?

Don't believe they are grey market as I have bought from them and there was no indiciation that the products were non-US - all support material, and Sigma USA documentation (other than you get a one year warranty vs Sigma's standard 4).
Just great prices and great service.
Bought my 70-300 APO Super Macro II from them, and my 120-300mm f2.8 EX and a 1.4 and 2x TC's.

Now that's what I call an upgrade. Very nice lens indeed.
Even though I'm in the UK I know sigma4less is a well respect outfit from all the posts from customers here over the last several months. They score very well here too:
