Hi Everyone!

Before I post some pictures. I have a few questions for all the Wedding Photographers out there. I graduated from College with a Degree in HVAC last summer. Due to the economy I have no luck finding a job in that field at all. It's been so hard. I've been shooting for about 2 years now(Mostly Family and Friends). I get gigs here and there and mainly because of referrals from my friends. After you see the pictures that I've posted, can you pleassssse give me your honest opinion whether I should pursue this profession and if I have enough potential to shoot weddings? I know this would be a seasonal type work because I live in IL so i might not get that many winter weddings. But I do have a secure Full time M-F Job. In a couple of weeks I'm going to start up my website and try to start making some business. I really love photography, I'm just afraid I won't be great enough to start a business on my own. Please guys any advice would be great. Now that the sad story is over =P I hope you guys enjoy the pictures.

whats HVAC?

you take great shots..you have a great eye and technically your work appears astute to me, though nit pickers will always find flaws and faults that your clients wouldn't dream of in a century of sundays...clearly you love what you do and your passion shows in your photographs.....

your work seems to be of far greater quality than that of 'seasoned' pros who will feel extremely threatened by the talented new kid on the block..

treat your clients as friends and not as blank cheques and I reckon you will have a very rewarding alternative revenue stream that you can certainly make it full time if you so desire.

I am really looking forward to seeing more of your work here.

what was your question again? :-)

Thank you so much bluefox9er. That really meant a lot. If everything goes as plan, my website should be done by next month. You're very right about treating client as a friend. Btw HVAc stands for heating ventilation and air conditioning. Again thanks for the kind words bluefox9er, i really appreciate it. =)

After reading your paragraph, i was expecting pictures much worse. Although the pictures are only part of the business, I really like them. Be ready to spend some more money in investing in more gear for backups.

If these photos are representational of your style and results, dude, you are light years ahead of many photographers! These show a very good eye for capturing spontaneous moments as well as helping orchestrate images that your clients will love. I have no doubt you can have a very successful career in this field. I enjoyed viewing your photos.

Looked at your Flickr page, and you do nice work in other areas (children, e-shoots). Added you as a contact!

The 85 f/1.8 is amazing. The only non L lens that I use in my wedding setup because I love it that much. Its a good length for candids, I find. For ~$350 used, it's a bargain.

Go for it. After seeing some of the pictures I'm sure you got what it takes.
Again, there's more then just taking photos. Consider your clients to be your best friends is the best advice I read in this thread. Quality and passion is what it is about. Good luck and hope to see some more of your work here.
