I was lucky enough to get a chance to attend several events at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games including Mens hockey.

Here are a couple of shots I took; Sidney Crosby alone at the end of warm up and Joe Thorton after a loose puck against the Slovaks.

Actually my friend's girlfriend took the Crosby shot with my camera but I did the editing on it.

What lens were you using? 400mm? Curious cause of that shot of SidtheKid is from the opposite side of the rink! hehe

70-200 2.8 IS on a 7D and then cropped a bunch.

It was probably a once in a lifetime chance to be able to shoot that level of talent in that level of competition. Pretty cool.

The second image is a great capture: I'd probably crop a bit more tightly above Thornton's head (i.e. taking the referee out of it - I don't think we would miss the ref at all).

I am not a fan of the selective coloring in the Crosby shot..

So, good stuff - did you have credentials, or just good seats?

Thanks RickyH and folville.

I respect your take on the Crosby shot folville, I have processed it both ways.

I tried a tighter crop in the second one but preferred it with the ref. I do like the emotion on Thorton's face in that one.

No credentials, just goods seats and some advice from a fellow forum member that they weren't being too sticky about DSLR's at the Games.
